Playful Praxis: Engaging Learners through Practical Play

video

Although the students in our classrooms are adults, it doesn’t mean that play can’t be used to help our students understand the practical applications of the content they are learning. Studies show that connecting content to both lived experiences and directed future use helps increase learning comprehension and retention. Likewise, using play to teach can increase the engagement we receive from our students. By using aspects of play to connect content to practical application, we can help students understand what they are learning and transfer that knowledge to their adult lives outside the classroom
